Early 19th cent.:
Gravestone of J. Moricy, c. 1809, St Mullins, Co. Carlow. A series of gravestones in this graveyard, carved by a sculptor named Kehoe, show St Patrick and other saints in this naïve, almost medieval style. Here, St Patrick is recognizable only because his name is inscribed above him: he lacks the snake or shamrock that had become associated with him by this time.
